Man, 33, accused of illegal relations with Hasidic Kiryas Joel teen

A wrong number brought Oscar Garcia together with a 15-year-old girl from a Hasidic Jewish community in Orange County, police said yesterday.

And their relationship became illegal soon after they met, police said.

Officers arrested the 33-year-old Garcia on Thursday night at his village home on a felony statutory rape charge accusing him of having relations with the underage girl.

Details of their relationship and how long they knew each other were not released by the police. Police said the girl hails from the Hasidic enclave of Kiryas Joel, whose members live separately from secular society.

Garcia and the child first met during a telephone conversation, Sgt. Louis Scorziello said.

"They met through an erroneous phone call," Scorziello said. "I don't know who dialed the wrong number - him or her."

Police were told about the relationship by the Rockland Sheriff's Department, which had received a tip, Scorziello said.

Officer Kim Grey handled the initial report, did interviews and located Garcia and the girl, Scorziello said.

"Officer Grey did an excellent job," he said. "She turned the details over to the detective bureau and an arrest was made."

Police arrested Garcia on Thursday at 17 Washington St. Yesterday he told a village justice that he lived there with his two in-laws.

Comments:
HaShem Yisborach should save us and help us on our holy Pesach. This zoineh has committed avodah zarah of the worst kind and has shamed her family and their rebbe (although the Satmar Rebbeim have done a pretty good job at shaming themsleves with the things they've done and said over the years). I do wonder how anyone found out about this, however. I do feel that the shaigetz should not be prosecuted- this girl knew she was rebelling against HaShem in what she did. Her parents should do what is necessary to save her at this point, so she can return to Judaism and repent from her toeiva.

THESE PEOPLE DID NOT BELONG IN K.J.. EREV PESACH THEY WERE PLACED IN A DIFFERENT HOME OUT OF K.J. THE HOME IS REALLY DISFUNCTIONAL.
THIS GIRL GOES TO A DIFFERENT SCHOOL IN MONSEY. HER FAMILY MOVED TO K.J. BUT COULD NOT BEHAVE IN A PROPER CHASSIDIC WAY. THE RIGHT THING FOR THEM WAS TO LEAVE.

Kol haposel vechulu

This is so typical, what you wrote sounds like this was the official response of the of the satmar kehilla. all ways the same thing "we are tzadikim such things never happen in our community" all ways looking for ways not to have the blame. whats the difference if she was from a dysfunctional family or not. instead of looking to fault the family look to fault the sheigetz

Can 948 please explain hiself ????

the solution to this problem is a very simple one,the rabbonim must ban the telephone

What in the world was the first comment all about?! The "Sheigeitz should not be prosecuted"?! And why not? Was she the only one at fault? In Torah a mefateh is punishable why should this guy get away with it?
Do you know that Beis din shel maalo does not punish under the age of 20. Why do you think this is? Maybe between a 15 years old and a 33 years old the 33 is (or should be) the mature adult knowing what he was doing?
We are so quick judging others that we even forget what Torah has to say about certain scenerios. Hashem yerachem. Your coment is a disgrace.

let me help you look at the situation in a different way. Everybody has challanges in thier life, and we cant measure against eachother who is bigger and smaller. Something was wrong, but its not hte end of the world. It can be fixed, and it does sound like it was the older mans fault.
So everybody on the computger can control thier test of loshon horah and whatever else it is and she will work on hers. have a good night

I'm really confused as to why so many posters are ready to blame the child in this situation. As Yisroel noted, either by standards of the Torah or by civil law, the man is liable for this crime of statutory rape, since she's only 15. Regardless of her supposed motivations, the adult here committed a crime. It seems that some posters would prefer to take the approach used in Saudi Arabia: subject her to lashings for the "crime" of bringing shame on her community and family, and let the perpetrator go free.

I don't know her or her family, but I do know this. I have dealt with kids like this. She was obviously desperate for attention, and has not had the best experience with Yiddishkeit. BUT she is a child, one who can always return. To her parents-What she needs now is LOVE...not blame, NOT throwing her out, where she will find many more chalerians like this one to victimize her...she needs therapy and understanding...and a HOME to come to...Hashem help you if you do not provide this, she is still your child.... I daven for you all, and for her refuah...
