Comments:
Thank you for informing us.
A picture is worth a thousand words!

I heard it was glass and not plastic but I'm thinking it has to be plastic as reported here.

You did mot tell us from witch company thay are

The candles are distributed by Ahron's Judaica, called Chanukah oil candles with gelled extra virgin olive oil (Code: 0CCL-25/44) and say Made in China. These candles have been shown to melt the glass holders, and possibly explode

The holders are hard plastic, which is the source of the problem.

Update:

I called the supplier in New York, Ahron's Judaica, and he told me that he ordered glass and the supplier in China used plastic instead (ie-the Chinese supplier gypped him by using a cheaper material). Ahron's Judaica, a nice Chassidic sounding man, told me he is losing at least $10,000 on this deal as well as a blow to his reputation.
So, let everyone know that these are plastic and not to use them. And let everyone know that it was not done on purpose by Ahron's Judaica and people should not speak loshon hora about his business or stop doing business with him in the future.

First of all, that's a new STORY that he is telling now that there is all this tumult. He didn't say that to the first person who called him with the problem.

Would you do business with him again if he supplied you with an uncalibrated X-ray machine that he was told was calibrated?

Either way, it is total negligence. He is selling a flammable item and needed to check the material before he delivered (or had it delivered) to retailers.

It's called buyer beware. Not lashon hara since there is a toeles (purpose/benefit) in getting the word out.

This is why I hate lighting the candles -- they have the potential to ruin my pretty menorah.

I love this Loshon Horah Business,
my dining room living room almost burned down aproxx. 2 hours after we lit. We had a great Ness that we were still sitting there and saw it go up in a big flame.
Two of the oil filled candles melted almost completely together .
He needs to Recall and apologize to the whole Community & promise not to sell these next year. Make sure the stores "SEND" it back to him and not
give credit and they will resell it next year. He need to go the extra mile on this.

the us consumer product safety commission is looking more information on this item. if you purchased this defective item, please file a report at http://www.cpsc.gov/
